Travelling to Crete after the pandemic

Following Greece’s successful management of the coronavirus crisistravelling to Crete resumes once again. In line with the strictest international health & safety standards, the Oscar Suites & Village is proud to announce its reopening for the 2020 season.

Blue skies and seas. Golden beaches gleaming under the brilliant sun. Fantastic food and potent drink. Ancient monuments and historic sites. Intricate monasteries and world-class museums. Exotic lagoons and awe-inspiring ravines. Fertile plains, snow-capped mountains and African-like seascapes, within the space of mere hours. Days filled with action, fun, laughter and much-needed bonding with family and friends. Travelling to Crete is all that and much more! Of course, in light of the latest, perhaps unprecedented, pandemic, the whole world came to a halt. Life looked nothing like we knew before during the previous months. Yet Greece timely took all necessary measures thereby successfully impeding the COVID-19 spread within its borders. As a result, it is now one of the safest destinations worldwide and one of the first countries to gradually return to normalcy, too. So the good news is that Crete, Greece’s largest and most diversified island, is once again receiving visitors in search of the sun, sea, and sand triptych. After all, following all this hardship, isolation, anxiety and gloom, a spot of pure, unadulterated nonchalance and joy amidst glorious surroundings is more imperative than ever. Travelling to Crete, then, might be just what the doctor ordered! What’s more, international carriers have resumed their connections with the island as of July 1st, so travelling to Crete is once again made possible too.

Travelling to Crete and to the Oscar Suites & Village

With genuine hospitality -i.e being friends to strangers– at the epicentre of our philosophy, at the Oscar Suites & Village, our family-run, family-friendly hotel in the sandy, blue flag awarded beach of Agia Marina -Platanias we are as always committed to providing the best possible level of service to our dear guests and friends. This, of course, includes safeguarding your health and safety first and foremost. To this end, we have been for decades now maintaining our own health & safety program in compliance with the strictest international standards; while we are certified by TÜV AUSTRIA Hellas for our ISO 22000:2005 & HACCP certifications in ensuring food safety and quality in terms of preparation and the final product.

Heartfelt hospitality goes hand in hand with the highest health and safety standards at the Oscar Suites & Village

In light of the current global threat, we have devised a new and enhanced hygiene protocol in adherence to the recommendations and guidelines of the World Health Organization, the local authorities, the National Public Health Organization (E.O.D.Y.) and the Hellenic Ministry of Health. In our quest to provide a safe and clean environment, tailor-made for stress-free holidays under the brilliant Cretan sun, measures include:

  • Rigorous disinfection of all frequently used surfaces such as the front desk, credit card terminals, door handles, staircases, elevator buttons, public bathrooms etc as well as all common areas, including Oscar Suites & Village 2 sizeable pools and fully equipped gym.
  • Thorough sanitation of our Agia Marina Platanias studiosone and two-bedroom apartments and sea view luxury Jacuzzi suite after check-out and before check-in with particular emphasis on frequently used surfaces such as bedside tables, bed sheets and other furnishings, toilets, washbasins, doorknobs, etc.
  • Bounteous provision of disinfectant dispensers, mask, thermometers and sanitizers throughout the property.
  • Extra precautionary procedures for food and beverage at the Valentino Pasta & Grill Restaurant in Platanias
  • Ongoing training on housekeeping and hygiene protocols for all staff members.

Our country has been vanquishing COVID-19 thanks to thorough hygiene and social distancing measures, but also by dint of its trademark sunshine and fresh air. Public life is by now quite active, while there is no general mask obligation, especially in the outdoors. The people are of course still attentive and alert, keeping up with global health & safety guidelines. Plus all state hospitals, private clinics and the university hospital in Heraklion, Crete, are on heightened alert. Since July 1st, international air traffic to the island of Crete has once again resumed and takes place without problems. Holidaymakers from all over the world are already travelling to Crete and having the time of their lives. So how about a spot of great weather, striking and blissfully largely empty beaches, and some much-deserved pampering by our highly trained staff at the Oscar Suites & Village?
